Culture is not forgotten, either. There are 31 museums, featuring many archaeological treasures, which are located country-wide in an effort to preserve all aspects of Costa Rican heritage. Fourteen theatres, including the magnificent 110-year-old National Theatre, often host world-class performances throughout the year. In the larger cities you will find a number of art galleries, plus more than 60 movie theatres, The country also boasts three symphony orchestras, including the famed National Symphonic Orchestra, considered to be one of the best in Latin America.
There is no shortage of dancing and nightlife which is available in many forms, depending upon the venue. Discotheques and tropical dance halls are abundant, particularly in the larger towns and cities. There are a multitude of fine chefs, insuring that exquisite dining meets international standards in French, Italian, Japanese and Chinese cuisines. Of course, it's always easy to find a fine Spanish restaurant offering more native foods that will please any palate, where the menu is as diverse as it is delicious.

In Costa Rica, National Geographic Adventure says “…you’ll strain yourself trying to do it all…” and National Geopgraphic Traveler dubs recreation options “…dizzying”. From the stunning white beaches and mangrove riddled wetlands of Parque Nacional Marino – the nation’s preeminent nesting site for leatherback turtles – to the nightlife of Tamarindo or the nearby Robert Trent Jr. golf course at Playa Conchal, Punta Playa delivers it all: surfing, sailing, sportfishing, snorkeling and scuba, horseback riding, hiking, caving, canopy tours, treetop walks, white-water rafting, birding, fine dining in virtually any cuisine, wilderness adventures for the whole family – and more!
With all of this to do, you might just retire here!
