Nearby Manuel Antonio National Park is a jungle preserve with secluded beaches, coral reefs, and mangrove swamps. One of the most stunning, picture-postcard backdrops in the country, this is one of Costa Rica's lushest places, with four spectacular beaches backed by rainforest-covered hills. Hiking, whitewater rafting, snorkeling, horseback riding, fishing and sea kayaking are common actiities at the park. The cooler forest trails are the best spots for wildlife viewing; Capuchin, Howler and Squirrel monkeys,
sloths, caimans, river otters, pacas, and ocelots are found in the park. The waters surrounding the park are also protected; several large reefs host a variety of marine wildlife.
