Costa Rica Real Estate

Costa Rica Prime Real Estate was formed after Joan and I  purchased property in the Central Pacific Region of Costa Rica.  After thoughtful consideration and discussion of our decision process, it became clear that the more people learned about this "Treasure of Central America," the more they wanted to visit, invest in, or join the growing number of retirees settling here.  What became obvious was the need to inform, educate and assist those who would develop an interest in pursuing property ownership in Costa Rica for either personal use or as an alternative investment.  And thus, the birth of this web site.

David V. Schmidt

After graduating with honors from West Virginia University in 1979, David started his career with Price Waterhouse.  He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

From the mid-1980’s until 1996 he was a Director and CFO of The Wakefield Electronics Group, a privately held data communications company.  A broad range of management responsibilities throughout the period included Finance, IT, Business Anaylsis, Quality Control and Operations. 

From 1996 until 2003 David was a Director, CFO and Secretary/Treasurer for Diploma Holdings, Inc., a US Holding Company with investments in the US, Puerto Rico, Canada and South America.  This group was a Subsidiary of Diploma PLC, a UK listed company.  Primary areas of concentration included due diligence and legal issues surrounding the company’s mergers, acquisitions and divestiture activities.  He was also involved with management of the company's US, Puerto Rican and Canadian subsidiaries. 

From 2003 until 2006, he was a Director of Resource International, a company he co-founded with a vision to provide a wide range of consulting services by accomplished, accredited individuals applying business, marketing and management skills to all types of entities.

In 2003, he and his wife Joan began providing financial sponsorship to a needy child in Cartago, Costa Rica.  In doing so, they became very interested in the people, customs and beauty of this Central American country.  They currently own a villa in Esterillos, on the Central Pacific Coast, and visit as often as they can.
