San Ramon: :

Located between the all important city of Alajuela and Puntarenas is the charming district of San Ramón—the second largest in the Alajuela Province. Situated just off the Inter-American Highway, San Ramón is surrounded by the Coffee clad hills which gaze out over the Central Valley. The mostly mountainous region produces many different crops including sugarcane, coffee and vegetables and the cattle industry still thrives.

San Ramon is about as Costa Rica as you can get! If you are looking for a small town to experience the Costa Rican way of life...this is for you!  It is a small town of about 40,000 that is full of restaurants and small shops/businesses, and a new mall that was opened in the fall of 2005.  However, it is the small and thriving  businesses in the center of town that will attract you.

You will also love the climate here.  It can change from just a short drive down the road! You will find the nights in San Ramon to be cool (upper 50s to low 60s) and the days will be near 80, the weather here is perfect as a result of the 3,500 foot elevation.

Things To Do:

There are plenty of nearby activities for everyone, ranging from bungee jumping to a more relaxing outing of bird watching, butterfly and hummingbird farms, zip lining and much more..

The Alberto Manuel Brenes Biological reserve is close by and provides hiking and birding for outdoor buffs, as well as several volcanoes scattered along the Central Volcanic Mountain Range which even have majestic waterfalls hidden in the dense forest.  And there is also the El Silencio de Los Angeles  Cloud Forest Reserve.

Other options include the Museum of San Ramon,  canopy tours, horseback tours, a relaxing day at a spa or visiting the neighboring towns of Grecia, Sarchi, Zarcero and Naranjo. Visiting different parts of the Pacific coast can be a very enjoyable day trip: only 30 miles to the beaches .Only 30 miles to the beaches, close to horse back riding, volcanoes, butterfly and hummingbird farms, zip lining and much more.
