Five large Hunter ceiling fans circulate air through- out the upper level. All floors are tiled.

Outside is a huge deck - 40 feet in length. Adequate seating exists for spacious entertaining or just lounging about with a good book.

Two sides of the lower level sport a covered veranda and there is a gas grill for those evening, pool side cookouts.

Outside is a beautiful, 16,000 gallon, in-ground swimming pool with beach-like, walk-in access. It is flanked by chaise seating and a thatched rancho with shaded table and chairs. A cascading waterfall rounds out this idyllic setting. The pool and grounds have been consistently maintained by an experienced staff member, and the lush, tropical gardens were designed and groomed by a Master Gardener.

Playa Zancudo is a remote southern Costa Rican village on the Pacific coast where time has stood still for more than half a century. Far from the bustle of urban settings, its 6 mile long beach of pure black sand meets a surf that has been looking for land since Hawaii. Only a short distance from Pavones with the world’s longest left breaking wave, Zancudo is a surfer’s paradise with plenty of fun left over for boogie boarders and kayakers. Uncrowded and unspoiled, however, Zancudo is best known as a beach walker’s heaven. Often alone, one can look for beach glass, shells and pretty rocks while endlessly kicking barefoot through the warm waters of a tidal pool.

The peninsula’s inland side is a huge river estuary and mangrove forest teeming with exotic wild life. Howler monkeys play the bass parts while hundreds of bird species warble the higher notes. Nature’s music soothes the most troubled ear.

A teak bench, hammock and fire pit complete the shore side setting opposite the gulf’s Osa peninsula where a national park, named Corcovado, is said to harbor the most biodiversity in the world. Boat rides are fun and day trips can take you to the Osa forest for hiking tours. Or, for the more venturesome, a zip line will provide a bird’s eye view of the forest canopy.

Fishing charters are world renowned, both offshore for marlin, sail and tuna or inshore for rooster, bonito and the like. The river trip is a favorite and you can visit a wildlife sanctuary or botanical garden via an enjoyable boat ride. Domestic help is readily available and relatively low in cost. A good grocery is within walking distance. Small restaurants abound and are nearby serving quality food at reasonable prices. Imported items tend to be expensive by US standards, but many things can be obtained “tax free” in Golfito, a mere half hour away by water taxi. San Jose is a large city and offers everything from merchandise to medical attention to night life at all quality levels. Only an hour away from Golfito by Sansa Air.
