Costa Rica’s prestigious CIMA to open Guanacaste hospital

Private hospital CIMA will build new installations in Costa Rica's northwestern Guanacaste province, the International Hospital Corporation, CIMA's U.S.-based owner, said in a press release Monday.

The new CIMA Guanacaste Hospital will be part of a planned retirement community complex, Pacific Plaza, located off the main intersection next to the Do-It Center in Carrillo, on the road between Liberia International Airport and the region's seaside resort areas.

“Costa Ricans and tourists will no longer need to travel to San José for high quality medical services. Instead, they will have access to general practitioners, specialists, surgeons, operating rooms and hospital services right next door to them, in the heart of Guanacaste,” said Carole Veloso, director general of CIMA San José.

CIMA San José recently earned the Joint Commission International certificate that the hospital meets the highest international quality and safety standards.

The construction, by the firm Proexsa, is set for completion by late 2010 or early 2011, the hospital corporation said.
